Syndicate Wars

After several years a sequel arrived for Syndicate; Syndicate Wars. The style is still the same kind, but with a lot of 'improvements', of which some are not that improved. When you walk through a city, you can now rotate your view, so you always see where they are walking. This is pretty desorientating and enemies walk quickly around buildings so getting them in view consists of rotating the view and enable the weapons and shoot at the same time. Can be quite frustrating. However, the graphichs and speed of the game contributes to a positive vibe of this game.
Make sure you unpack this game in C:SWARS. Other wise it could be possible the game does not work.
Run Setsound.exe to get your sound configuration.

Falcon 3.0

SPectrum Holobyte keeps coming with new flight simulators updates for Falcon. Falcon 3.0 is way ahead of the first Falcon game. The graphics are stunning, the sounds is superb. There is even speech used during flight from the board computer. Of course lots of views to watch you plane in the air. The missions have expanded and are great.

Falcon

Falcon is a flight simulator for the F-16 fighter, but I guess you had figured that out.
The usual stuff for a simulator. Select a mission, remove the breaks, hit the gas and take off. I think this is quite a good game since it's from 1988. Graphics are OK, and of course full polygon play. Use the numpad to choose a view.

Terminal Velocity

Fly with a 'space' ship through a variety of levels in which you have to destroy objects on the ground. Around you the enemy fleed is on your back with ships and ground troups. You fly your ship over landscapes which are quite flat. In some levels you have to dive into the ground. A different part of level start, where you have to manoeuvre you ship over obstacles through a small pipe.
Sound are pretty ok.

Darklands

A great RPG set in Germany in medieval times.
Goal of the game is getting some fame in the country.
When you start the game you can set yourself a nice party or just press the quickstart button. The game begins. You talking to each other in an inn, so you learn a bit as player about the game. Once you get outside you have lots of options. When in a city you 'walk' and 'talk' in the city by clicking on a list of possibilities, with have very nice graphics.
The battles are realtime, but you can pause it to give new orders etc.
Once outside the city you can walk the map of germany, seeking for more quests. But I suggest you start in the city, beating up thieves in the night :D

Archon Ultra

Archon Ultra is a remake from Archon with some extra's. The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is very ok. Goal of the game is to defeat your opponent on the 'chessboard'. The pieces you play with are ofcourse not the original chess pieces. You have knights, magicians, shapeshifters, etc.
When you want to defeat a piece you have to really defeat it. A little war level starts in which you play one on one. There is also a special weapon which you can use on your opponent.
The game is quite interesting :)

Big Red Racing

Big Red Racing is a great race game with lots of different tracks to play. Before each race you can choose a vehicle (out of a list which is suited for the race) a logo to put on the car and the damage control. After that you choose a track to play, of course more tracks will be available after winning tracks and tournaments.
The point of view in the game can be adjusted using the mouse. The controls are pretty easy, steering, accelerate, brake and nitro boost.
All keys can be mapped.
The gameplay itself is quite ok, pretty fast and with some practice you've got your vehicles quite good under control. ;)

The Tracer Sanction

A very old adventure game with stunning CGA graphics. I'm not sure what the goal of the game is, but it involves flying around with a space ship. There are several ways to die and there is a possibility to save, which is quite handy playing an adventure.
The interaction of this adventure game is typing, typing and typing. The pictures might help you, but are not necessary.
This game works way too fast, also in DOSBox, so you really have to lower the CPU raid using Ctrl-F11 in DOSBox.

MiG-29 Fulcrum

Nice simulation game to fly with the Russion MiG-29.
There are a couple of scenario's to play each on another place on earth. The game has the stuff you expect from a flight game: several points of view, e.g. your own plane, missiles and even your enemy. A very neat feature of the game is time booster: You have to fly sometimes a bit far away from your base, but once you heading to a point you can press 'x' to fly a bit harder. Once pressed another key the time jumps into real time.
nice graphics and good gameplay. Play with mouse, keyboard or joystick.
Once your in the cockpit don't forget to press ctrl-k, to play with keyboard ;)

Blue Force

Blue Force is a game made by Jim Walls who we know from Police Quest. The game is about a boy which just graduated from the Police Academy. His father (also a cop) and his mother were killed by an unknown hitman 11 years ago. Probably because of some case his father was on. Of course you can guess that during game play more and more clues arise.
The gameplay is quite nice. With the right mouse button actions are chosen (walk, use, talk, look etc).
I'm not really a fan of real people used in games and this is one of those game.
Be sure to run this in DOSBox. After unpacking and starting dosbox, run 2install.exe before blue.exe works.
