One of the best games from the Infocom IF days, A Mind Forever Voyaging casts the player as Perry Sim, an otherwise normal human person who wakes up one day as PRISM, the world’s first sentient computer. The goal of the game is to test the effects of a particular economic program in a simulated city named Rockvil. The game’s interface makes it the best means of engaging the reader in the story, IMHO. In other words, interactive fiction (IF) was the best medium for narrating the AMFV’s storyline - it cannot be told any other way.
