I just played it a bit and it looks quite nice.
First you have to create a crew. You can choose of Humans, Androids, Thrynns? and some other two species looking like dinosaurs $\":\)\"$

After selection you can train them in a discipline, like engineering, science, navigation and medicine and another. To be honest when you have an android they are pretty good in Engineering and Navigation.

After that you will go to your ship, You can buy upgrades like shields, phasers, etc.

Then you can go to the bank. to see how much money you've got.
And finally you will blast into space.

when you download. you have to unpack also sf.zip within the zip.
run SF.com, which will 'crack' the game.
and will tell you what to press (shift-printscreen) when you need to enter the launch code.

Quite simply, the most innovative PC game ever made. Over 200 unique star systems with 800 unique planets, all this and only 720kB in size.

This game and its sequal is the closest thing you can find to acually being in a Star Trek style enviroment. It also has some humor to it too. $\"^O^\"$
