Microsoft Arcade from the Action genre was created by Microsoft in 1993 and is free for you to download.
Description
Microsoft Arcade consists out of 5 individual games; Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Missile Command and Tempest. Each has his own history but are well known to mankind. I would say, check it out a bit. Battlezone is quite fun, 3D-ish graphics from 1981!!
Note: these are MS Windows games.

This is a Windows game. Sometimes it should be run on an older Windows version or at least a 32-bit Windows. You could use VMware player (free) and install an older Windows on a virtual machine. e.g. I have installed my old Windows XP 32bit on VMware. More info on that you can find over here.

I'm pretty sure 1981 refers to the original coin-op release (Nov 1980), considering they specifically state Microsoft Arcade was a 1993 release. | |

These are practically re-writes of original arcade games. This was in the pre-MAME and pre-emulation of anything days. Pretty cool. I had this going under windows 3.1, but have not tried it in dosbox with 3.1 or 98 or xp. | |
