Ocean Trader from the Simulation genre was created by Software 2000 in 1996 and is free for you to download.
Description
Now this is a 'simple' but effective simulator game in wihch you can build ship and sail the seven seas.
You start at a port where you can build ships, buy a warehouse, load fuel and goods.
From there you can sail to other ports to unload your stuff for a profit.
What I like about the game is that you can see what the major imports and exports per port. This makes your choice of port a lot easier.
I started as a beginner and I was making profit after my first run.

Buy low, sell high.. The game can be quite frustrating.. save often. FYI, double click your desired port of destination to get your ship moving.. I choose to avoid buying tankers as you only gain revenue when loaded.. Not sure if it's a bug.. but engines require major maintenance ALWAYS.. even after spending hundreds of thousands repairing them. Overall, decent economic sim for it's time.. and the first 200 mil is mostly fun.. after that it becomes somewhat stale but for designing new ships.. |
